I’m Pro-Life and want to help!
Do you want to make a difference in building a culture of life in your area? Dubuque County Right To Life (DCRTL) has several opportunities for those who are interested in serving in a direct or indirect role within our mission.
Below is a list of ways to be pro-life throughout the year, whether with DCRTL, within your community and circles of influence, or within the broader pro-life movement. Every little bit makes an impact.
- Become better at dialoguing about abortion by enrolling in a pro-life apologetics course such as Equipped for Life (available through DCRTL) or Love3 available through Justice for All.
- Talk with your friends and family about abortion.
- Clean out your closets and donate the proceeds to the pro-life cause.
- Support pro-life organizations financially.
- Sponsor a pro-life speaker at your church, community group, or home.
- Pray outside the Emma Goldman Abortion Clinic in Iowa City, especially on Thursdays (Carpools are available.)
- Pray on Wednesday night or Thursday morning for the people who have an abortion scheduled at Emma Goldman Abortion Clinic in Iowa City.
- Talk to your pastor or priest about discussing abortion publicly within your church.
- Organize community events to promote pro-life issues through awareness walks, panel discussions, and local service projects.
- Sponsor or create advertisements for pro-life legislation.
- Buy sidewalk counselors a coffee.
- Learn the stances of your political representatives and share with them your view on Life.
- LOVE social media? Assist with the social media page for DCRTL.
- Know a medical provider? Ask them how they can be better served in delivering prenatal diagnoses (e.g., Down syndrome).
- Create a book club directly or indirectly related to promoting Life.
- Participate in a local 40 Days for Life Campaign.
- Write a letter to the editor.
- Volunteer to help a pro-life organization by sending thank you notes to donors.
- Create a pro-life prayer group.
- Find pro-life healthcare providers.
- Buy lunch for a local pro-life organization.
- Visit the elderly, sick, or lonely.
- Put a pro-life sticker or magnet on your car (DCRTL has options at the office).
- Place pro-life literature in your church.
- Host an Equipped for Life Seminar (having better conversations about abortion) small group among family, friends, church, or school.
- Advocate for perinatal hospice notification.
- Work with local high schools to support pregnant and parenting students and employees.
- Send elected officials thank you notes when they accomplish pro-life work.
- Attend a March for Life.
- Leave business cards for your local pregnancy resource center.
- Support women with unintended pregnancies in your church.
- Erect a “Cemetery of the Innocents” at your church or school.
- Talk about your experiences in online support groups.
- Put a pro-life sign in your yard.
- Pray for DCRTL and the pro-life organizations you admire and support.
- Learn the details of fetal development.
- Bring a meal to a family who have a child in the womb, just gave birth, or lost a child to miscarriage or stillbirth.
- Like, comment on, and share content from your favorite pro-life organizations.
- Volunteer on campaigns for candidates who are pro-life.
- Pray for sidewalk counselors.
- Commit to praying once a day for an end to abortion.
- Study the pro-choice worldview.
- Subscribe to pro-life podcasts.
- Create a “Contact Our Reps” group.
- Take pictures at pro-life events to share with the organization.
- Post ads in newspapers for local pregnancy resources.
- Create chalk art with a pro-life message.
- Donate items to babies in need.
- Advocate for laws preventing minors from obtaining abortions out of state without parental permission.
