Ambassadors for Life

The Ambassadors for Life was started by Dubuque County Right To Life, Inc. (DCRTL), in 2022 to engage high school students in pro-life activism through mentorship, leadership opportunities, service and relationship building. We seek to recruit students from each high school community, including homeschool, public and private schools, who want to make an impact sharing the pro-life message and are ready to be leaders. Our three pillars are Formation, Activism, and Fun.

  • Monthly Meetings consist of three elements:
    • Review the status of projects that are in process and brainstorm new projects;
    • Increase knowledge of pro-life issues, including current news, and how to effectively share the pro-life message using the Equipped for Life Course;
    • Network with pro-life students from other schools.
  • There are currently six elected leadership roles: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, Public Policy Officer, and Recruitment & Retainment Officer.
  • Each participant in the program is expected to take a leadership role on a project, whether it is a new initiative or a legacy DCRTL event. The DCRTL office staff is available for project assistance and guidance if necessary. All projects are subject to the approval of the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

When you become an Ambassador for Life, you can expect DCRTL to:

  1. Be there for you whenever you have questions and need support.
  2. Equip you to be a pro-life leader in your current circles.
  3. Make sure the experience includes having fun.
  4. Make it a transforming experience for you as an individual so that by the end of your tenure, you can say that the program helped you grow as a person and increased your knowledge of the pro-life cause.
  5. If desired, the Executive Director will write a detailed letter of recommendation on your behalf.

As an Ambassador for Life, you will not only be helping build a culture of life, but your experience will also serve you well in future jobs, college, and scholarship applications. Recruiters appreciate seeing experience and volunteerism because it shows you are not only willing to work, but you are also committed to helping others. By participating, you will have the opportunity to use innovation for new ideas and develop them. As an Ambassador for Life you will surpass the average resume by showing that you are an empathetic leader with proven results in pursuing and meeting the needs of the community.
