Leon Jensen, Chairman [ click for bio ]
Leon Jensen was raised in Fremont, Nebraska where he graduated from Fremont Senior High School and Midland Lutheran College. He also graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and is funeral director with Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Homes.
Leon is a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and a board member of Our Redeemer Lutheran pre-school. He is also a member of the Dubuque County Republican Party Central Committee.
Leon is married to the former Mary McCormick and has one daughter, Anna, and two step daughters, Theresa and Megan.

Liz Cushman, Vice Chairman [ click for bio ]
Liz Cushman has lived most of her life in Dubuque. She along with her twin sister, a brother and another sister experienced the grace and blessings of adoption at an early age. Liz and her husband Dave has been married since 1975, and are blessed with 7 children, along with 8 grandchildren and counting.
Over the years, Liz has volunteered for numerous causes and organizations, mostly related to her children. They range from baking to teaching to decorating to selling. She considers it a privilege to serve meals at the Rescue Mission, to be a member and National Coordinator of Mothers Prayers, a prayer group of mothers who pray for their children weekly, to be a lector at St. Columbkille, and a peaceful, prayerful protestor outside the Dubuque Planned Parenthood.
Liz has learned that God walks every step with her, she is not in control, and can’t do it without prayer. Life may not always be happy but that doesn’t stop it from being joyful. “I can never give as much as I have been given and I believe Matthew 19:26, which says With God, all things are possible.”

Ann M. Williams, Ph. D., Secretary [ click for bio ]
Dr. Williams was born and raised in Carroll, Iowa. She attended Creighton University, where she obtained a B.A. in Psychology and Theology. Subsequently, she obtained a M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Her areas of specialty include child and adolescent internalizing disorders as well as eating disorders. Dr. Williams completed a residency in Clinical Psychology at the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minneapolis, and, thereafter, completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Stanford University Medical School in Palo Alto, California. Following completion of her training, Dr. Williams served as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) in Belmont, California, as well as Consulting Assistant Professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Stanford University Medical School. While at NDNU, Dr. Williams was the faculty advisor to the NDNU Students for Life group.
Dr. Williams is married to Dr. Clark Williams, an ER Physician at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. She and her husband have three children. Dr. Williams enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and playing the piano. She is a parishioner at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa.

Jim Giese, Treasurer [ click for bio ]
Jim Giese was born and raised in Dubuque, having attended Holy Trinity grade school and Wahlert High School . After serving in the U. S. Navy as a radarman, he attended Loras College and the University of Iowa , where he received a B.A. degree in economics in 1971. He married Cathy Conlon in 1975 and they have three grown children, Mike, who is pursuing an acting career in New York, Dan and Carolyn who both work for the family business
After doing some construction work and then sales for Sears & Roebuck, he became manager of Giese Roofing Company, a family owned business. In 1981 he left that company to start his own business, Jim Giese Commercial Roofing Co.
Jim has been involved with numerous community boards and professional associations throughout his career in the roofing industry.
He plays golf and sometimes enjoys it. He enjoys daily workouts and noon pick-up basketball at the Dubuque Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
He is a grandfather to Lily Giese, daughter of Mike and Shannon, and looks forward to his visits to New York to see her.

Dr. Mike Lattner, Board Member [ click for bio ]
Dr Lattner was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1971. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a BS degree in 1975 and DDS degree in 1979. Mike completed a 3 year Prosthodontic Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and obtained a Masters of the Science of Dentistry Degree. He is Board Certified in Prosthodontics. There are presently only ten in the whole State of Iowa.
Dr Lattner entered the United State Air Force in 1979 and retired in 1999. He was a Distinguished Graduate of Air Command and Staff College and served as a Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General for Prosthodontics.
Dr Lattner has a private practice in Prosthodontics and Family Dentistry in Dubuque. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
Dr Lattner is a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and has taught religious education there for five years. He is married to Claire Lattner, a native of Boston, and they have a daughter, Julia Ann.

Sara Brehm, Board Member [ click for bio ]
Mrs. Brehm was born and raised in Iowa. She attended Northeast Iowa Community College, where she received her Associate Degree in Nursing. She has served in a variety of professional areas including Pediatrics and Post Surgery.
She and her husband, Mike, have been married for 25 years and have 8 children. They reside in Peosta, Iowa. Mrs. Brehm has been active at St. John the Baptist Church by serving on the Parish Council and Rosary Society. She has also been active on her Parish Respect Life Committee, heading numerous pro-life activities.
Mrs. Brehm is currently a member of our Speaker's Bureau. She will speak on any life topics, but she prefers to speak on chemical (contraceptives) abortifacients. She served as President of Dubuque County Right To Life, Inc.'s Board of Directors in 1995 and 1996. She has been associated with the pro-life movement since 1987.

Arthur F. Gilloon, Esq., Board Member [ click for bio ]
Mr. Gilloon is a partner in the Dubuque law firm of Gilloon, Wright & Hamel, P.C. He is a 1975 honors graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a 1978 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts in Iowa , the State Courts of Wisconsin, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Gilloon was a founding Board member of Dubuque County Right To Life, Inc., and is a member of Dubuque County Right To Life's Speaker's Bureau. He speaks on a wide variety of topics related to life issues. He has also served on the Boards of several Dubuque area community organizations.
He was the first President of the Dubuque County Mental Health/Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board, and served as Treasurer of the Dubuque Visiting Nurse Association Foundation Board. For 10 years he was a member of The Finley Hospital Ethics Committee. He also serves as a legal advisor to Birthright of Dubuque, Inc. Mr. Gilloon has also served as DCRTL's President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
He has taught grade school and high school religious education classes for 17 years and also coached girls' basketball at the YWCA for 7 years.

Nathan Faries, Board Member [ click for bio ]
Nathan Faries teaches English at the University of Dubuque. He grew up in the Chicago area and has lived and worked in Chicago, Beijing, and Hong Kong. Nathan and his wife Mia have been married since 2000 and they have two children: Thomas and Hannah. They attend St. Columbkille Church as well as St. Mary--East Dubuque. Nathan earned his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Penn State in 2005 and has published a book on Christianity in China.

Tim Duggan, Board Member [ click for bio ]
Tim Duggan and his wife, Julie have two children, Kevin a Senior, and Mallory a Junior at Wahlert Catholic High School. Tim’s oldest daughter Sarah, a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business lives in Minneapolis.
The family has been active parishioners of St. Joseph, Key West parish since 1990, where Tim has served on the Board of Education, Parish Council, and Stewardship Committee. He was a parish representative for the Holy Family Catholic School Board from 2004 – 2006. Tim serves as a catechist for, and team member of, the parish RCIA program. He is also a former member of the Dubuque Rotary Club.
Tim is actively involved in the greater Dubuque CEW Community and serves on the core team for the Dubuque Area Wide CEW Core Committee. He is associated with the St. Michael the Archangel Organization and is a member of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4236.
Other ministries include the Archdiocesan Jail and Prison Ministry Program serving the inmates at Anamosa Reformatory as well as acting as a Mentor for former offenders. The Pro-Life movement has become a passion and the focus for his involvement with Liturgical planning and organizing community prayer services.

Rev. Richard Schaefer, Board Member [ click for bio ]
The Reverend Richard L. Schaefer is a graduate of Marquette High School in Bellevue, Loras College on Dubuque and the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium . He did post-graduate work on Theology at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
During his first priestly assignment at St. Anthony’s in Dubuque, he also taught junior high religion at St. Anthony’s Grade School and sophomore religion at Wahlert Catholic High School. His specialties at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ames were marriage preparation, campus ministry and team writing of a nationally-distributed weekly homily-liturgy service.
His 20 years of service of teaching theology at Loras College included one term as Chair of the Division of Religious Studies and Philosophy. As a archdiocesan censor, he has processed and edited several thousand books so far.
Currently he is hospital chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.

Bill Frye, Board Member [ click for bio ]
Bill Frye and his wife Jan have been married since 1967, and are blessed with 2 children, and 5 grandchildren. Bill is an Army Veteran, and retired from the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 36 years, including the last 24 as a Supervisor/Manager. He served for 18 years on the Board of Directors of the Dubuque Postal Credit Union.
Bill is currently the Chancellor of his Knights of Columbus Council, and Chairman of the Pro-Life Committee. He attends St. Columbkille Church and has served in many capacities, including Eucharistic Minister, Sacrastin, Liturgy Committee, Greeter, and Mass Server. Bill is also a Eucharistic Minister at Mercy Hospital and a peaceful, prayerful protestor outside the Dubuque Planned Parenthood.

Dr. Staci McKeon, Board Member [ click for bio ]
Dr. Staci McKeon was born and raised in Michigan, attended Alma College and the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. She completed a Family Medicine residency in Kalamazoo where she met her husband Mark McKeon during his Emergency Medicine residency. Mark was born and raised in Dubuque and enjoys working as an ER physician at Mercy Medical Center. Staci is an Acute Care physician at Medical Associates Clinic. They have 4 children and love spending time as a family. They are parishioners at St. Mary's Catholic Church East Dubuque and are passionate about pro-life activities in the community.
